The Whitecourt and District Forest Interpretive Centre was made
possible through the support of all levels of government, as well
as donations by many companies, groups and individuals.
Features of the centre include a multi-media museum gallery high-lighting
the role of the forest in the evolution of Whitecourt; a multi-purpose
room and an 80 seat auditorium, both equipped with excellent audio-visual
capabilities; and a gift shop that carries many locally
crafted products.
Adjacent to the centre, there is a Heritage Park work-in-progress
which is recreating an early 20th century logging town. Buildings,
vehicles, tools and artifacts from this period are being gathered
for restoration. Presently, an old pioneer church is being renovated,
with plans to offer weddings in the historic building, surrounded
by the Whitecourt forest. For more on Whitecourt's history, click
